The sculpture is a fragment of an elegantly arched steel rail. As a result of the resistance of the material to artistic will, this work literally emits an aura of struggle. The victory of the artist in this struggle is doubly dramatic. First, the geometric line faces its formal opposite, the curve. Secondly, the extremely functional object – the railway rail, a symbol of the industrial epoch of the ХХ century, is deprived of any possibility of practical application, becoming a metaphor for the dysfunctionality of art as such. But the main source of energy – the impermeability of the product, hiding from the viewer the process of its birth, as well as any meaningful interpretation. The linear steel railway rail turns into a complex «twisted» sculpture and becomes a symbol of the gravity of traditional means of production, reminiscent of the end of the industrial era. V
