A hereditary artist, nonconformist. Wrote mostly with gouache and oil in restrained, cool tones. Mainly created abstraction in the 50's, in the 60's melancholic portraits appeared as well as sceneries and «flowers» in an expressive-primitive manner. Vision loss, mental disease filled his works with drama and loneliness. Participant of the Venice Biennale (1977). Works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum.
