Artist
Peter Belenok 1938–1991
Called his paintings «panic realism», catastrophism: the motif of a cosmic catastrophe dominating over the characters is repeated in his works. The composition has a two-part structure. Tiny figures of people from cut-out newspapers and magazines are placed in the lower light plane. In the dark upper plane – abstract elements, written out in one rapid movement. Works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, MMOMA.
