Artist
Leonid Purygin 1951–1995
The primitive artist. Called himself a «Genius from Nara». He relies on the iconography language and Northern Renaissance artists (Van Eyck, Memling, Bosch) in his work, uses techniques of folk crafts, sometimes refers to the polyptych format. Carefully creates a fantastic world, accompanying his visions with texts in his works. Cold color enhances the atmosphere of unreality. Works are in the Tretyakov Gallery.
