Photographer and journalist, his pictures were printed in GEO, The Times, Guardian, Le Monde. Working in a variety of genres, Savintsev prefers documentary photography and landscape. His works, shot in the Russian north (in Teriberka and Arkhangelsk), blur the boundaries, turning an uncomplicated landscape into abstract compositions on a white background and revealing the beauty of a minor and familiar way of life.
