Artist
Anatoly Zverev 1931–1986
A nonconformist artist. Worked in various techniques - ink, gouache, watercolor, painting, sometimes impulsively adding spices, clay, jam. He used both with brushes and rags, but more often his fingers. Zverev worked fulminantly, depicting forms and images in several sweeps. Portraits of friends, girls, animal figures, landscapes, abstractions loom out of vigorous lines and spots. Works are in the Tretyakov Gallery.
