Since the 1980s, his painting studies social reality, where there is no place for an individual, but there is a crowd. His monumental «Queue» was significant (1986) – a succession of female figures reaching the infinity. Creating a society map, he is engaged in «field work» – sketches types in the subway, queues, covering the sheets with fine graphics. Works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum.
